No, the operating system used by the iPod touch and iPhone, which is a variation of Mac OS X, is very secure and will not get viruses. This is mainly because an iPod touch/iPhone cannot download files from the Internet, which is where the vast majority of viruses come from.

I suppose it’s possible, but there aren’t any viruses known at this time that target the iPhone.

The virus is called iPhone firmware 1.1.3 prep and when i connect my phone to itunes it says that theres a new version called 1.1.3. Can I udate it or is it just another virus?
Ah, not quite. The truth is the following.
There are no iphone viruses. What you have heard about is a Trojan horse for the iPhone. (Remember – viruses replicate themselves. Trojan horses do no.) It is something that *claims* to be an update for the iPhone. If you install it on your phone (which you can do only if you have "hacked" – unlocked – your iPhone), it does absolutely nothing. However, if you attempt to uninstall it afterwards, the deinstallation process will remove some useful applications.
You can no longer get this Trojan horse – the site that was offering it for download has been shut down. And if you don’t hack your phone, you can’t install third-party software on it, so you’re safe from just things. Just keep updating it from Apple and everythign will be fine.
